The Hamworthy Combustion’s SpiderTM is a high performance multi-arm type burner specifically designed for ground flares, in both Multipoint Ground Flare (MGF) and Enclosed Ground Flare (EGF) applications allowing for safe disposal of gaseous waste streams.
The SpiderTM design generates a short flame, which is important in ground flares applications where the absence of any externally visible flame is often a key requirement and allows for the fence (or stack) height to be minimised which reduces overall visual impact of the flare system and minimises cost.
Hamworthy Combustion’s SpidersTM have been developed to meet the needs of current customer specifications and project requirements: smokeless performance is achievable without either steam or air, through an exclusive multi-arm design allowing for enhanced natural mixing between gas and air and delivering clean and short flames within a wide range of operating conditions for improved flexibility.
Each single arm has series of nozzles along its length which are designed based on gas composition and pressure available.
The central hub (in the middle of the arms) acts as a stabilizing anchoring point for the flame.
The SpidersTM are generally installed in multiple rows onto multipoint ground flares “runners” (gas “sub-headers”) or at the bottom of the stack in case of enclosed ground flares.
Hamworthy Combustion provides the complete system design to ensure correct performance and operation is achieved, including a proper inter-axis distance allowing safe and efficient cross ignition between adjacent burners.
