An Enclosed Ground Flare (EGF) allows for disposal of gaseous waste streams without any externally visible flame by keeping the combustion inside the volume of a stack, whose design and materials accommodate for the thermal demands of the enclosed flames. The hidden flame is the main advantage not only because it minimizes the visual impact but also because of the reduced noise and the "zero radiation" outside the system, allowing for the operators to work outside the EGF with the system in operation (no need of plant shut down). Hamworthy Combustion can supply the stack in modules (panels) of conventional transportation sizes to be bolted on site (no welding) and already complete with the refractory lining installed. At grade around the stack, a windshield fence maintains the required ambient air draught into the stack to optimise the combustion process and maximise destruction efficiency.
